1500s Italian Garden Attributed to Peter Candid (c. 1548–1628)

1500s Flowers for the Garden attributed to Peter de Witte, known in Italy as Pietro Candido & in Bavaria as Peter Candid (c. 1548–1628) was a Flemish-born Mannerist painter, tapestry designer, & draughtsman active in Italy and Bavaria. He was an important artist at the Medici court in Florence & at the Bavarian court of Duke William V and his successor Maximilian I in Munich. Peter Candid was an extremely versatile artist who was not only a painter but also a designer of tapestries, prints and sculptures. His pictorial work ranges from religious & history paintings, portraits, mythological scenes, & allegories.

Buildings & Gardens by Georg Andreas Böckler (c 1617-1687)

Georg Andreas Böckler’s (c 1617-1687) Architectura Curiosa Nova.  Georg Andreas Böckler was a German architect and engineer who wrote Architectura Curiosa Nova. Born in Cronheim, he was an architect in the city of Nuremberg and specialized in hydraulic architecture. Architectura Curiosa Nova was his most important work. It is mainly a book on theory and application of hydrodynamics for fountains, water-jets, garden fountains, and well heads with many designs for free-standing fountains. It also includes designs for grottoes and garden pavilions.
